Winning is elementary for Watson

- By ROB ROBERTSON

SCOTLAND vice-captain Hamish Watson admits it is ‘win or bust’ in this evening’s second Test against Argentina in Salta. The British and Irish Lion said he is treating the game as ‘a cup final’ as Gregor Townsend’s men bid to take the three-Test series into a deciding match next week.

The Edinburgh flanker watched from the sidelines last weekend as his team scored two tries, had one chalked off and squandered several other chances in a 26-18 defeat. Having recovered from the shoulder injury that put him out of that first Test, the 30-year-old wants to unleash his team’s exciting backline more. And to spoil Argentina’s Independence Day celebrations by beating the Pumas, Watson — who wins his 50th cap — also believes the Scots need to show freedom in attack. ‘This is the first three-Test tour for Scotland for as long as I can remember, so that puts a big emphasis on the game because it is win or bust,’ he said. ‘We are building towards the World Cup, so you want to generate as much momentum as possible. ‘We need to win to take it to the last game, so I’m treating it like a cup final. ‘We have a lot of exciting guys in the backline that can score from anywhere and we have to get them the ball.’

Kick-off: 8.10pm.
