IS A reunion party ahead? Last month, we reunited Sara Alcraft, nee Burrell, of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire with fellow former nurse and friend from Iran, Mitra Afzali. ‘Mitra and I became great friends when I started nursing at the Royal Free Hospital in London in 1967. She came over from Iran to do her training and we ended up sharing a flat. She had a sister, Mina, living in Salcombe, Devon. ‘I got married in March 1970. Mitra married soon after me; she and her husband then moved to Germany, and
I last saw her there in 1973. We lost contact after that.’ We found Mina, who happily reconnected the two old friends. Mitra is again based in Iran and is doing well. Now, there’s further good news. Jan Hill, nee Brooker, emails: ‘I started nursing with both Sara and Mitra at the Royal Free in 1967, and am in touch with other colleagues from that time. Please forward my contact details to Sara.’
