THE DAILY MAIL offers the opportunity to re-establish contact with long-lost relatives and friends. Produced in conjunction with the voluntary tracing service Searching For A Memory, runun by Gill Whitley.

CALLING former colleagues. Kate Harris, 73, is writing a book about her time working for the Barnardo’s children’s home at Morley Manor in Derbyshire. ‘When I arrived, I was only 17 and part of an allfemale staff. Morley was then a training children’s home and we acted as their mothers, grandmothers and aunties. There were newborns and children up to the age of seven — we loved them all. Later, the Barnardo’s policy changed, with the emphasis on small family units, and children were fostered and adopted. ‘For my first two years at Morley, I was a student nursery nurse; in 1968, I passed my National Nursery Examination Board course, and remained at Morley for a third year as a staff nursery nurse. I was then Catherine Hakewill, and I’d love to reconnect with anyone who worked with me there — in particular Jean Mellor, Rachel Flatt and Heather Reeve — as well as any of the children I looked after. It would be great to meet up and reminisce about our times at Morley. ‘After Barnardo’s, I worked as a nanny, but mostly worked in children’s homes on the south coast before marrying. Since 1991, we’ve lived in Rugby.’
