Floyd rocker: I’m far more important than today’s stars

MOST of today’s top musicians are just another brick in the wall – according to Roger Waters.

The ex-Pink Floyd star hit out after critics did not review his gig in Toronto, Canada – instead choosing to see one by local singer The Weeknd. ‘I have no idea what or who The Weeknd is, because I don’t listen to much music,’ 78-year-old Waters said, on his This Is Not A Drill tour.

‘ With all due respect to The Weeknd or [rapper] Drake or any of them, I am far, far, far more important than any of them will ever be, however many billions of streams they’ve got,’ he told the Globe and Mail, condemning the newspaper for choosing the Toronto artist’s gig over his.

He added: ‘ People have told me he’s a big act. Well, good luck to him. I’ve got nothing against him. I’m not trying to make a personal attack. I’m just saying it’s odd.’

Pink Floyd have sold more than 250million records and got a UK No 1 single with Another Brick In The Wall. The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights was the most streamed Spotify track in 2020, at 1.6billion listens.
