Vote? Let’s have a show of fans
THE leadership candidates may be feeling the heat this week, but those leading the party’s backbenchers helped those casting their ballots keep cool heads by arranging for a batch of electric fans to be delivered to their voting room.
Backbench MPs are required to mark their ballot paper for their preferred leadership contender and post it into one of the large safes in the presence of the 1922 Committee.
Committee chief Sir Graham Brady posed with the fans as he stood at the chairman’s platform.
Beneath him, fully suited, were executive committee members (from left) Gary Sambrook, Bob Blackman, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Browne and William Wragg.
