Chelsea block Pulisic from talking about gun control

- MIKE KEEGAN

CHELSEA yesterday vetoed a question to American striker Christian Pulisic on gun control in the USA — the country they are currently touring.

A club official stepped in when the 23- year- old was asked for his views on what is a huge issue in the US.

There have been a number of deadly mass shootings in America over recent months that have garnered lots of coverage in the media.

Pulisic was one of the members of US men’s national team who recently signed a letter calling on Congress to pass gun control legislation.

However, an attempt to attain the forward’s opinion yesterday was stopped after he seemed to display a pained expression when asked.

In response to the question, and following an exchange of glances with Pulisic, a Chelsea official said ‘that isn’t something for Christian to answer in this press conference’.

Meanwhile, Kalidou Koulibaly says that he joined Chelsea ‘to play the greatest football in the world’ and that former Napoli team- mate Jorginho triggered his move.

The Senegal defender has joined Chelsea on tour following a £34m move from Italy.

He said: ‘I made a big choice to come to the Premier League and play the greatest football in the world.’

Koulibaly added: ‘ Jorginho asked me if I wanted to come to Chelsea. I said, ‘‘I want to come but don’t want to propose myself.’’ If they want to come I will and after that my choice was done.’
