POTTS ILL AS FANS RUN FOR COVER
MATT PoTTS was forced off the field on debut feeling the effects of the extreme heat while thousands of fans fled the stands to take refuge. Potts managed just four overs before leaving the field as the mercury hit 37°C (99°F). only two-thirds of the seats for the 15,000 sellout were full at times as fans sought shelter in one of the most open grounds in the country, with no roofs. Durham opened air-conditioned rooms for those affected to recover. Medics and police worked overtime to help those unwell while hundreds were said to have gone home early.
