Nuclear plant gets go-ahead
A MULTI-billion-pound nuclear power station has finally been given the green light after Boris Johnson’s plans to expand nuclear energy at ‘warp speed’ were blocked by the Treasury.
Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng announced yesterday that the Suffolk Sizewell C project will go ahead. In the spring, the PM had to delay plans for the plant, which will power six million homes with low-carbon electricity.
Sizewell is still in negotiations with the Government on raising funds for the project. Until then, opposition from residents and environmental groups could still impede the plans.
