Love Island complaints pass 3,600
LOVE Island has received more than 3,500 Ofcom complaints in just one week following claims of misogyny.
The ITV2 reality show was hit with 3,617 complaints after contestants were shown compromising footage of their partners.
Luca Bish, 23, angrily accused his partner Gemma Owen, 19, daughter of footballer Michael, of flirting with a newcomer – even though she insisted she hadn’t been. Another contestant Davide Sanclimenti accused his partner Ekin-Su Culculoglu, both 27, of ‘lying’ after seeing footage of her in bed with another man.
Viewers also complained about the treatment of Jacques O’Neill, 23, who quit the show amid fears for his mental health.
Ofcom said it was still assessing the complaints while ITV has stressed its commitment to the islanders’ ‘wellbeing’.
