‘Best before’ helps

-

MARKS & SPenCeR is scrapping ‘ best before’ dates on the food it sells to reduce consumer waste.

For daily shoppers, this might work, but most of us shop weekly and I need to know that meat, milk and other items are likely to last for several days before I use them.

I often use fruit and vegetables well beyond these dates, but if I’m buying

meat or fish to be used a few days ahead, the guidelines are helpful and, as a result of them, we waste very little food.
