Yes, I STILL want a break in the sun!
IN ANSWER to all those who say ‘but I bet you go on holiday to hot countries, so why can’t you work in a heatwave here?’
1. I choose to go on holiday. I don’t choose to live in a city when it’s this hot and given the choice, I wouldn’t.
2. On holiday, I can stay in an air-conditioned hotel and take a dip in the swimming pool.
3. On holiday, I sleep each night in an air-conditioned bedroom.
4. On holiday, I can take a siesta. That’s a bit tricky in the office.
5. On holiday, I’m not commuting on a packed Underground train with the temperature soaring.
6. On holiday, I don’t come back to a sweltering hot flat that has been shut up all day.
7. On holiday, I’m relaxing, not stressing about whether the trains will run because of the heat and if I’ll be able to get home. See the difference?
