Wallace sends more arms
BRITAIN will send Kyiv a huge new arms package in an effort to force a Russian retreat from the country’s eastern regions.
Hundreds of lethal drones, thousands of anti-tank rockets and shells and more than 50 heavy guns will soon be heading to Ukraine, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace announced, adding to the UK’s £2.3 billion in support already pledged.
Mr Wallace said: ‘The scale and range of equipment we are providing demonstrates the strength of our resolve... we will ensure Ukraine has the tools to defend their country from Putin’s illegal invasion.’
A total of 50,000 rounds of ammunition will be provided for Ukraine’s Soviet-era equipment, while the UK will also send 50 M109 self-propelled guns and L119 artillery guns.
The resupply comes as the US considers supplying aircraft to Kyiv and training its pilots.
