Top Gear’s Paddy splits from his model wife after claims he ‘cheated by kissing TV star’
TOP Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness has split from his wife Christine after 11 years of marriage, the couple revealed yesterday.
It came after he was accused of cheating on her by allegedly kissing a female TV star last year.
McGuinness, 48, who also presents Question Of Sport, and former model Christine, 34, released a joint statement on Instagram saying they had taken the ‘difficult decision’ to separate.
however, they intend to remain living together at their £2million Cheshire mansion for the sake of their three children – who all have autism. It comes just days after Mrs McGuinness admitted the couple were having a ‘difficult’ time in an interview.
She also insisted that she ‘didn’t cause this situation’. Yesterday sources said they had been living separate lives since April – shortly before Mrs McGuinness starred on ITV series The Games.
Last week it was reported that McGuinness had kissed an unnamed TV star. A source on The Games told The Sun On Sunday: ‘Paddy wasn’t around at all during The Games and the more people got to know Christine, the more they felt she deserved to know what he’d been up to.
‘A number of them told her about the kiss and that he’d been unfaithful. She was very hurt and upset.’ In the statement yesterday the couple said: ‘A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving ving and supporting our children.’ They Th added: dd d ‘W We’ll ’ll always l be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.’
earlier yesterday McGuinness had posted a picture showing the couple smiling during a family holiday at Center Parcs in Nottinghamshire last week. Mrs McGuinness, who was also diagnosed with autism last year, met the TV star when she was 19 at a bikini fashion show.
