IT’S GLAMP DAVID!

Beckhams pitch £50,000 tent in luxury Cotswolds retreat

SINCE buying it as a derelict property, the Beckhams have poured everything into making their corner of the Cotswolds an ideal rural retreat.

They’ve even put in a lake on top of a hill, with an island, bridge and jetty. Now a £50,000 ‘Glamp David’ has sprung up on the shores of that watering hole in Oxfordshire, in the form of a gigantic safari-style canvas tent.

The lodge is a whopper, at 45ft long and 35ft wide. But one snag is a debate over whether the fully retractable structure is permanent, and so needs planning permission. Sources in the Beckham camp said: ‘There is no consent issue. The Beckhams’ consultants did check directly with the council.’ However, West Oxfordshire District Council has opened an investigation.

It was tipped off after a local resident spotted the structure on Google Earth. A council source said: ‘We have to investigate each alleged breach of planning law equally and fairly.’ The tent itself appears to be from the Cashmere Caveman Company, owned by Beckham’s close friend, the film director Guy Ritchie.

Ritchie has an identical tent at his Wiltshire home, where he has hosted Beckham. The centrepiece is the ‘Wildtable’ – a super-luxe smokeless BBQ. The embers burn in a box under the table, keeping everyone’s legs warm, and smoke emerges via a flue.

The first glimpse of Ritchie’s invention came in his 2019 film The Gentlemen, featuring his own table.
