Sore loser! Chess robot breaks boy’s finger
DESPITE being a game that involves two armies and the capture of a king, chess is not known for its violence.
Unfortunately, no one told a chess-playing robot, who broke a boy’s finger mid-match.
Seven-year-old Christopher was playing in the Moscow Open last week when his swift response to one of the robot’s moves prompted the mechanical arm to lash out, grabbing his finger.
It took several officials to prise the robot off the boy.
Sergey Lazarev, president of the Moscow Chess Federation, said: ‘The robot broke the child’s finger. This is, of course, bad.’
Officials said Christopher made his move too quickly, contravening the robot’s safety procedures.
