WHAT I WANT
I want to love; don’t want
to hate.
Hate won’t get me through
Heaven’s gate.
And yet, one man has
forced my hand
By trying to take
another’s land.
I feel that he attacks
my soul.
But, surely that is
satan’s goal.
I must, with all my
will, resist.
And turn the cheek that
Judas kissed.
I’ll tell myself, his
deadly lies,
That pock the ground,
midst babies’ cries, Come from a man who
doesn’t know
The way that God would
have him go.
But I must not procrastinate, While others hurtle to
their fate.
We cannot leave our hearts
on shelves.
For God helps those who
help themselves.
The sword I wield? It is
my pen.
I load my words and aim
them. Then,
I pray for accurate release, And his demise, and lasting peace.
