Pointless rhetoric
RISHI SUNAK and Liz Truss are not fooling anyone with claims they will deal with illegal Channel crossings.
These are promises that can’t be kept. They would attain more respect if they were honest and frankly explained the solution is complex.
Short of a functioning Border Force turning all Channel crossings back from whence they came it appears nothing can be done.
B. CHANNING, Pembroke. WHEN the Conservative Party started the selection process for a new leader the gutter press and TV channels couldn’t believe their luck.
The way it has been organised is a gift for anti-Conservatives because an adversarial approach encourages mudslinging. Instead of the badtempered
TV debates, surely the way to stop the blue on blue infighting is to interview each candidate for 30 minutes. They would be able to sidestep trick questions in a calmer, less fraught atmosphere.
