THE first gold medal is up for grabs in the men’s triathlon. England’s Alex Yee is looking to improve on the silver he won at last year’s Olympics. He faces competitio­n from New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde. Georgia Taylor-Brown is the home favourite in the women’s race which follows.

SUNDAY, 8.51pm MEN’S 100m BREASTSTRO­KE FINAL

THE last time most people saw Adam Peaty, he was strutting his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing. But the triple Olympic gold medallist is back doing what he does best in Birmingham after recovering from a broken foot. Peaty has not been defeated over his favoured 100 metres for seven years.

MONDAY, 5.07pm WOMEN’S CYCLING SCRATCH RACE

LAURA KENNY considered quitting this year after suffering a miscarriag­e and an ectopic pregnancy. Yet she is back on her bike and going for gold in three events. The last is the scratch race, a straight shootout over 10 kilometres in the velodrome.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 1.10pm MEN’S 1500m FINAL

ALL eyes will be on Britain’s new athletics star, Jake Wightman, as he looks to replicate the gold he won in Eugene earlier this month. Wightman was born in Nottingham but represents Scotland and will be challenged by team-mate Josh Kerr.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 8.30pm NETBALL FINAL

THE highlight of the last Commonweal­th Games came when England stunned hosts Australia to win netball gold with a goal in the final second. They will aim to reach the final again here and set up a Super Sunday for England, with the women’s hockey and cricket finals held earlier in the day.
