Is this pendant a lucky sign?

-

IT COULD be a lucky omen for the Lionesses – archaeologists have dug up a centuries-old rare pendant bearing three lions.

The horse harness pendant, pictured, is thought to have been dropped by a rider who fell out of the saddle in the 12th century.

It was found in a field in Wormleighton, Warwickshire, during excavation for the HS2 rail project. The crest worn by the Lionesses is based on the Royal Arms of England, which is associated with Richard the Lionheart, who became king in 1189.

Dr Dawn McLaren at the firm Connect Archaeology, which uncovered the pendant, said: ‘The condition of this object is quite remarkable.’
