Good money after bad

-

I AM at a loss as to how the NHS has got itself into this state.

I am a baby boomer and every government has known for decades that, by the 2020s, this generation would need expensive healthcare.

However, it appears that nothing has been put aside to fund this, even though we paid our dues over our long working lives.

Why aren’t there convalescent homes so the elderly would have somewhere to recover before they are sent back home, thus freeing up vital hospital beds?

Why do we insist on nurses having degrees? It is a vocation and training on the wards is the way to gain experience and learn skills. What the NHS doesn’t need is for the Government to plough in more good money after bad.
