-

WAYNE ROONEY sent former club DERBY a good luck message ahead of their 1-0 win over OXFORD. Derby were on the brink of liquidation a month ago but were rescued by lifelong fan David Clowes. ‘It makes days like this sweeter,’ said interim boss Liam Rosenior. ‘This day will always be remembered. I’m honoured to be in this position. Wayne called me to wish me good luck and he still cares deeply about the players.’

Conor Hourihane scored the winner on his debut. PETERBOROUGH began their bid to bounce back from relegation in perfect fashion as they came back from two goals down to beat CHELTENHAM 3-2. Manager Grant McCann said: ‘The first half was probably the poorest I’ve seen us but the reaction in the second half was excellent.’
