Keeping our hot dog cool with ice cream
WheN my children were little and Greensleeves announced the arrival of the ice cream van, our Irish setter would accompany us to buy treats.
After the children were served, it was her turn. Our lovely ice cream man would give her a ‘penny lick’, which was a cone with a scrape of ice cream. She would wait patiently until we were back in the garden to enjoy her treat, which was especially refreshing on a hot summer’s day.
