WHAT TO WEAR THIS WEEKEND
A SHORT-SUIT
THIS summer, the fashion equivalent of a mullet has fully taken off. That’s right, the short- suit is in: business up top, party at the bottom.
FROM CHANEL . . .
DON’T believe me? Look to the catwalks. There was traditional boucle tweed at Chanel, belted check designs at Dior, and subtle stripes at Alberta Ferretti. And, as usual, the High Street has its own selection of relaxed tailoring for a fraction of the price.
. . . TO TESCO
JuST look at the elegant twopiece I’m wearing here. It’s from F&F at Tesco (yes, this trend is now so mainstream the supermarkets are doing it). The shorts have an elasticated waist plus a belt detail, and I love the longline jacket.
For a more statement option, Mango has the chic monochrome gingham style below (which has just gone into the sale — so snap it up while you still can), and I’m a huge fan of Jaeger’s linen design below, which is available at M&S.
DINNER-PARTY CHIC
THeSe co-ords are surprisingly versatile. easy to wear when off duty, suitable for the office — providing it is bare- legfriendly — or even for a dressed up dinner. Just remember to keep it classy and look for loose-fitting styles in muted colours, avoiding anything too short, tight or bright.
