Starmer’s dilemma

-

LaBOUR leader sir Keir starmer is between a rock and a hard place. He backed Jeremy Corbyn’s Left-wing agenda at the last General Election and as a consequence saw Labour massacred by the electorate.

On the other hand, the bulk of Labour funding comes from unions run by people who have the same views as Jezza.

If starmer backs unions who aren’t very popular with voters — after turning down pay rises that are considerably more than most other people will get — he will lose out at the polls.

But he could lose funds to fight an election if he doesn’t back the unions and the strikes. Welcome to (limited) power, sir Keir.
