Poulter in legal fight with PGA
IAN POULTER and Phil Mickelson are among 11 LIV golfers to launch a lawsuit against the PGA Tour in anger at their suspensions.
The players were banned by the PGA Tour for joining the controversial, Saudi-backed LIV Golf series and the 11 have claimed they are being unjustly punished for playing in the breakaway tournament.
The bombshell lawsuit accuses the PGA Tour of ‘exercising its monopoly to crush overseas competition and punish players who joined it’.
It also accuses the Tour of using golf’s majors to ‘do its bidding’ in maximising its threat.
It comes after former world No 1 Justin Thomas said he felt the LIV golfers’ anger was personal. ‘They are suing me, Rory, they are suing Tiger — everyone they have looked in the face and played rounds of golf with, shared moments with,’ he told the No Laying Up podcast. The LIV breakaway has hosted four events.
