TRIM YOUR LAVENDER
LAVENDERS have been splendid this year. In spite of heat and drought, these Mediterranean toughies are still thriving. Trim now to develop fresh foliage and a light crop of later flowers. Just grab a bunch of spent flowers in one hand, holding secateurs in the other. Sever stems a little below the highest leaves. These further flowers, though more sparse than the first flush, will be valuable for bees and all pollinating insects.
