CHELSEA’S ALONSO EDGES CLOSER TO BARCELONA MOVE

- By SIMON JONES

CHELSEA left back Marcos Alonso is closing in on his move to Barcelona following the Blues’ £62million signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton. Alonso (right) is understood to have already said his farewells to the club’s staff as he looks to seal his transfer this weekend. The 31-year-old has a two-year deal lined up. However, Barcelona were warned by La Liga yesterday that they will not be allowed to register any of their new signings unless they make further cuts. The Catalan side are understood to be £126m short of the necessary figure. Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Matt Miazga has joined MLS side FC Cincinnati.

BRIGHTON are showing an interest in Espanyol left back Adria Pedrosa as a replacement for Cucurella. The 24-year-old has just a year left on contract and initial talks have taken place. Meanwhile, the Seagulls have allowed centre back Shane Duffy, 30, to join Fulham on a seasonlong loan following the arrival of Levi Colwill from Chelsea.

WEST HAM have completed the £17.5m signing of winger Maxwel Cornet from Burnley on a five-year contract.

ARSENAL midfielder Lucas Torreira has reached an agreement with Galatasaray ahead of his £5.5million move.

LEEDS are in talks to sign former Everton and Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Joel Robles. The 32-year-old will come in to replace Kiko Casilla — who was released from his contract a year early last week. Robles is a free agent after leaving Real Betis at the end of last season.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST have made an enquiry to take RB Leipzig full back Angelino on loan. Forest want cover at full back following new signing Omar Richards’ injury and they have also spoken to Real Betis about Alex Moreno. Meanwhile, Steve Cooper’s side have asked about Atalanta midfielder Remo Freuler. Forest also want another forward, with Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Jizz Hornkamp of Willem II on their list of targets. BRENTFORD’S move for Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard has been held up amid talks over a clause to reduce the 22-year-old’s salary if the club are relegated. ROMA, managed by Jose Mourinho, have held further talks over a loan deal for Manchester United defender Eric Bailly. Sevilla, AC Milan and Fulham are also interested in him.
