Britney bites back
As ex-husband claims sons are avoiding her, she says: I gave my boys everything
BRITNEY Spears hit back at her ex-husband after he claimed their sons have purposely not seen her for months.
The pop star condemned Kevin Federline for publicly speaking about her relationship with their boys Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, who live with their father.
Former singer Mr Federline, a 44year-old father-of-six who was married to the singer for three years until 2007, broke his decade-long silence in a series of exclusive interviews, some of which will air this week on ITV News.
He said: ‘The boys have decided they are not seeing [Miss Spears] right now. It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.’
Yesterday Miss Spears, 40, hit back on social media, writing: ‘It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children... As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone.’
It comes months after the pop star won a battle to end her 13-year conservatorship – a legal guardianship that gave her father and others control over her finances and personal life.
In the post yesterday, the singer then appeared to respond to Mr Federline’s suggestion that a string of semi-nude photos she had posted of herself on social media had been the reason for her sons choosing to stay away.
She said: ‘It concerns me the reason is based on my Instagram... It was LONG before Instagram... I gave them everything... Only one word: Hurtful.’
Her new husband Sam Asghari, 28, who wed Miss Spears in a star-studded ceremony in June, wrote: ‘To clarify, my wife has never posted a nude selfie except of her butt which is quite modest these days... There is no validity to [Federline’s] statement regarding the kids distancing themselves.
‘The boys are very smart and will be 18 soon to make their own decisions and may eventually realise the “tough” part was having a father who hasn’t worked much in over 15 years as a role model. Kevin’s gravy train will end soon which probably explains the timing of these hurtful statements.’
