Furious dad ‘boxes in’ water van

- By Andrew Levy

A FUMING father prevented a water company van from moving by blocking it with his car after a leak left his family without supplies for days.

Car salesman Chris Oxley, 40, said he took action after Thames Water failed to fix the problem despite complaints from desperate residents in the area. His partner, Sarah McCrory, 43, drove 20 miles to her mother’s house to wash their baby daughter’s clothes and bottles – and toilets at their home could not flush. They were still without a water supply yesterday. Miss McCrory said: ‘I’m desperate.’

A Thames Water van turned up on Wednesday carrying water but the driver told Mr Oxley he had no information about repairing the leak in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The angry father used his car to stop the van from leaving after his request to speak to a manager was refused. He moved it when police were called. Mr Oxley blamed Thames Water’s head office rather than workers it sent out.

Thames Water was last night unavailable for comment.
