Footie results get extra time
RADIO listeners will still be able to tune into the classified football results on Saturday afternoon – but not on the BBC.
LBC News has stepped into the row over the BBC’s decision to drop the much-loved service by announcing that it will now broadcast the results in the same time slot.
The BBC resisted calls to reverse its decision to drop them from Radio 5 Live. But LBC News, rolling news sister station to the main LBC service, said it would be broadcasting the ‘football scorecard’ at 5.05pm from tomorrow.
LBC has previously broadcast a recorded version of the scores later in the day.
Former BBC presenter Des Lynam said the BBC decision ‘seems cheap’.
