Carney’s Canadian job

-

A FORMER Bank of England governor has been named chairman of Canadian investment manager Brookfield asset Management when it spins out from its parent later this year.

Mark Carney, who headed the Bank for close to seven years, joined the Brookfield conglomerate in March 2020 to lead the launch of a £ 12.2bn fund targeting investments focused on renewable and carbon-free energy. He will front Brookfield’s spin out of a 25pc stake in its asset management business as part of a plan to list the unit as a separate company this year.

Carney, 57, will work alongside Brookfield asset Management’s chief executive and Brookfield veteran Bruce Flatt.
