Woke Argos cuts out ‘two-man delivery’ over sexism claims

- By Izzy Lyons

ARGOS has ditched the term ‘ twoman delivery’ from its adverts after customers complained that it is ‘sexist’ and ‘outdated’.

The high-street store updated its language earlier this year to replace ‘man’ with ‘people’ after customers said that it wasn’t inclusive.

But the move has been branded ‘woke madness’ by critics. The language alteration was made after customers used social media to highlight the ‘sexist’ tone of the old adverts.

One customer wrote on Twitter: ‘I noticed in one of your stores your ad was sexist – 2 man delivery. Hopefully moving forward you’ll change this to 2 person delivery.’

Another added: ‘Can you explain why you put up a 2 Man Delivery sign in your brand new Lewisham shop? Do you only hire men? It’s a very outdated phrase.’

Argos later confirmed that it had updated the language – a move criticised by Tory MP Nigel Mills.

He said: ‘Surely there’s bigger things in the world right now to be worrying about. It’s woke madness.’ Argos said: ‘We updated our wording to ensure we reflect the diverse communities we serve and colleagues we work with.’
