Stalking terror of Pussycat Doll: Suspect held after man turned up at singer’s home

- By George Odling Crime Correspondent

POLICE have arrested a man after Pussycat Dolls singer and Heart FM presenter Ashley Roberts was terrorised by a stalker.

The star, 40, raised the alarm at a trespasser repeatedly turning up at her home in London and her bosses beefed up her security.

A suspicious figure lurking outside the radio station where she hosts the breakfast show was then pounced on by security guards.

Miss Roberts reported her ordeal at a central London police station and detectives later made the arrest before bailing a suspect as they continued their investigation.

‘It has been a concerning time for Ashley, but she has stayed calm, levelheaded and focused on her work going about her day-to- day life,’ a source told The Sun newspaper. ‘A man became fixated on her in an unhealthy way and she realised she needed to get help so the situation didn’t escalate or get out of hand.’

The singer, who reached the final of

Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and came second on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity in 2012, works at the London headquarters of Heart’s owners Global.

The insider added: ‘Global have been excellent in providing security to escort Ashley in and out of the building as her safety is paramount.

‘She is grateful for the support of the police and has lots of great friends around her.’

Miss Roberts, who split from her Strictly partner Giovanni Pernice, 31, after a two-year romance, has been away to Mykonos, Greece, for ‘some much-needed respite’, said the source.

The singer rose to fame in 2003 alongside Nicole Scherzinger as part of the US girl group with hits including Don’t Cha and Stickwitu.

The band sold more than 56million records before splitting up in 2010.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said an inquiry into an allegation of stalking began in July and a man was arrested on August 11.

Miss Roberts’ agent and Global Media declined to comment.
