Crumbs! Now Fortnum’s goes green...
FORTNUM & Mason is asking customers to hang onto their deluxe biscuit tins and buy refills as part of a green initiative.
Known as the Queen’s grocer, it will start stamping QR codes on treats such its Toffolossus biscuits, which cost nearly £20 for 600g. After scanning the code, customers will be taken to the online shop where they can buy £15.95 refills in cardboard boxes.
Fortnum’s has already introduced £85 reusable Christmas crackers and is offering £5 gift cards to customers who return their wicker hampers to store.
The food emporium, based in Piccadilly, central London, said: ‘As a 314-year-old family-run business ...it’s our responsibility to operate in a way that’s sustainable for the next 300 years.’
