LEAGUE TWO

WEEKEND ROUND-UP

- BEN WINSTANLEY

ROCHDALE hoped for an immediate improvement when they sacked Robbie Stockdale on Thursday but conceded after just 26 seconds into a 3-0 defeat at SWINDON and remain rooted to the bottom.

Stockdale became the first managerial casualty of the season after the club lost their first four matches of the campaign but that became five on Saturday under interim boss Jim McNulty. They are at risk of following neighbours Oldham into the National League unless the new manager improves a side who have scored just once in those five defeats. Thankfully for them,

two other sides are also winless — both of whom have bosses still finding their feet in the Football League. CRAWLEY — managed by Kevin Betsy in his first senior role — suffered a 2-0 defeat by AFC WIMBLEDON and HARTLEPOOL went down 3-1 at home to BRADFORD. Pools are managed by Paul Hartley, who was appointed just days before Betsy after a decade managing in scotland. He lamented ‘basic errors’ from his players on saturday and it doesn’t get any easier — they travel to new tabletoppers LEYTON ORIENT next weekend. Orient’s 3-1 win at COLCHESTER catapulted them to the top on goal difference and stevenage are just behind them after beating CARLISLE 2-1 at home.

NORTHAMPTON maintained their unbeaten run thanks to 97th-minute equaliser at Crewe — sam Hoskins’ second of the match and seventh of the season. But last week’s tabletoppers SALFORD fell to sixth after losing 2-1 at DONCASTER.
