BBC beyond a joke
a WORD of warning for the new Prime Minister. Don’t expect any more of a fair hearing from the BBC than your predecessor received.
Yesterday’s inaugural Laura Kuenssberg Sunday morning politics programme showed the corporation’s bias against the tory party will continue unabated. her panel of guests told its own story. there was a leading Corbynista, an ex-Downing Street functionary notable for having made highly offensive remarks about Boris Johnson and a comedian who engaged in a moronic spoof designed to denigrate and belittle Miss truss.
Coming so soon after the extraordinary barrage of foul-mouthed abuse against Mr Johnson on the comedy quiz have I Got News For You, it suggests that political balance has been effectively abandoned.
Restoring some semblance of impartiality will be an enormous challenge for the BBC’s new chief executive of news and current affairs, Deborah turness, who starts today.
Poached from ItN, she has a hugely distinguished CV and a powerful reputation for fairness. the Daily Mail does not doubt her good intentions – but turning the toryloathing BBC super-tanker around will be a herculean task.
