A VISION IN VERY PRICEY RED
THE Duchess of Sussex marked her return to the UK with a masterclass in colour blocking style last night.
Dressed in audacious red from top to toe, she certainly made an entrance at Manchester’s One World Summit for her first speech to a British crowd since she and Harry cut ties with the Royal Family in January 2020. A big deal for her and not an easy occasion to dress for.
The designer she turned to was flamboyant Italian Valentino – the fashion house of the moment – choosing an elegant georgette blouse (£1,100) and matching silk taifabulous lored trousers (£1,200). The colour co-ordinated heels – characteristically high £772 Aquazurra T-bars – completed the look. There was no playing the high street card, Meghan was a vision in very pricey red.
Earlier she was spotted at Euston station, where she and Harry caught the train to Manchester, in another outfit: a pair of wide-leg silky camel trousers and a gorgeous cashmere knitted polo-shirt, from US designer Brandon Maxwell.
It was an outfit reminiscent of the ‘stealth wealth’ style of dressing popularised by hit TV series Succession – expensive but inconspicuous.
My only reservation again was the price; at £735 it’s a safe bet this was the most expensive polo shirt on that train. We may all be tightening our purses, but clearly there’s no point in Meghan pretending she has to do the same.
