Boris is on his bike... and we’ll miss him

-

THANK you, Boris, for Brexit, the vaccine rollout, your unstinting support for ukraine and especially for enabling Britain to hold its head high on the global stage again.

You have a fierce intelligence and you are charismatic, confident and larger than life — all essential in a great leader. The people of this country saw all this and though we knew you were not perfect, we voted for you in our millions. We are appalled that our mandate has been snatched away from us by Parliamentary pygmies. so, take some time out, enjoy your family, catch up on your writing and recoup your strength. Hopefully, we are saying au revoir and not goodbye.

WENDY CASCIO, St Leonards-on-Sea, E. Sussex.

BORIS JOHNSON got us through the pandemic and if he had not got us out of the Eu when he did, we would not have been able to roll out the vaccine that saved thousands of lives. see how we repay him. We haven’t seen his strength of leadership in decades. The Conservative Party will rue the day it decided to get rid of him.

The last strong leader the Tories had before him was Mrs Thatcher and they turned on her as well. Will they ever learn?

ANN CRUICKSHANK, Lytham St Annes, Lancs.

THANK you Boris for getting Brexit done (well, some of it) and thank you for helping us through the worst of the pandemic, though that was tainted by furlough and Covid loans fraud, wasted billions on useless PPE, the NHs Test and Trace fiasco and Government lockdown parties.

Thank you for guiding us through the cost of living crisis and the fuel price hikes. Oh sorry, you didn’t really do anything during those crises. rishi opened the purse, tipped it upside down and watched the spiders, dust and Iou notes drop out. We were told that because of Covid there was no money left to help those who pay the taxes that have been wasted. Quite rightly, you weighed in to help the ukrainians. But why spend billions of our taxes on that war effort when we are facing a different struggle?

You were a breath of fresh air for five minutes, but then you proved yourself no different to your peers.

I voted for you, but I am glad to see the back of you. But if I could go back to 2019, I still wouldn’t vote for Corbyn or any of the others. Good luck, Boris!

ASHLEY SMITH, March, Cambs.

For the first time in my lifelong support of the Conservative Party, I am ashamed to be a Tory.

The assault on the character and behaviour of Boris Johnson is more akin to the spanish Inquisition than a review of whether procedures were followed or not.

The country couldn’t give a damn about birthday cake or after-work drinks — none of us were under the same pressure as No 10 staff.

The pathetic MPs who want Boris banned from Parliament know that he could return to lead the country again and then they will be consigned to the political wilderness.

R. BRYAN, Morpeth, Northumberland.

IN HIs public life, Boris had to deal with Brexit, the pandemic, Afghanistan and the war in ukraine. In his private life, he had a divorce, a marriage, his wife had two babies and a miscarriage; he almost died from Covid and he lost his mother. He didn’t whinge and whine, but just carried on with the job.

Mrs M. A. HAY, Studley, Warks.

I DON’T wish to take anything from Liz Truss, but the Conservatives will live to rue the day they got rid of Boris. R. SYKES, Draycott, Somerset.

?? ?? That’s all folks! But will it be goodbye from Boris Johnson or au revoir?
