Mercer wife’s outburst

THE wife of sacked minister Johnny Mercer furiously attacked Liz Truss last night.

Felicity Cornelius-Mercer’s husband lost his job as Minister of State for Veterans’ Affairs. Apparently referring to a conversation between Mr Mercer and Miss Truss, she wrote on Twitter: ‘He asked her: “Why would you do this? Who is going to be better at this role than me? Which of your mates gets the job? You promised a meritocracy.” PM – “I can’t answer that, Johnny.”’

She posted a mocked-up picture of Miss Truss looking like Beaker of The Muppets and insisted: ‘Best person I know sacked by an imbecile.’
