Shock prostate diagnosis for TV Gabby’s rugby star husband, 50
TV PRESENTER Gabby Logan’s rugby player husband Kenny has revealed he is recovering from prostate cancer following a major operation.
The 50-year-old former international, who won 70 caps for Scotland, was diagnosed in February after his wife told him to get a health check.
The couple opened up about their ‘really hard year’ on BBC Breakfast yesterday to encourage others to get tested. Bill Turnbull, the show’s ex-host, died at 66 from the disease last month.
Logan said a discussion about women’s hormonal changes during the menopause on his wife’s podcast, The Mid Point, made him think about the effect on his health of growing older.
The subsequent check-up indicated prostate cancer. After a biopsy confirmed it, he had his prostate removed.
He said the diagnosis was a shock, adding: ‘I didn’t expect it. I had no symptoms.’ Mrs Logan, 49, added: ‘For all you blokes of a certain age, don’t wait for symptoms – go get checked.’
