Cyber-criminals attack UK businesses
TWO of Britain’s biggest firms have been hit by cyber-attacks taking some services offline.
Bus and train operator Go-Ahead was hit by an attack that brought down its software systems, risking delays and cancellations.
The business, which runs the Great Northern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express and Southern railways, detected ‘unauthorised activity’ on its network on Monday. It brought in forensic specialists to investigate the extent of the incident. Go-Ahead said there had been ‘no impact’ on UK and international rail services.
Meanwhile, the owner of Holiday Inn was hit by an attack taking down its booking system and some other services. Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) said its technology saw ‘unauthorised activity’ and had faced ‘significant disruption’ because of the incident.
