Marsch charge for ref rant
JESSE MARSCH has been charged by the FA for ranting at officials during Leeds’ 5-2 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.
The Leeds manager was sent off after venting his anger at his side being denied a second-half penalty when they trailed 3-1. He faces a touchline ban for Monday’s visit of Nottingham Forest, although he has until Friday to respond to the charge. The American was incensed when winger Crysencio Summerville was brought down by Aaron Hickey and referee Robert Jones and VAR David Coote ignored Leeds’ penalty claims. He remonstrated with fourth official Keith Stroud and pointed towards the pitchside monitor, angry that Ivan Toney had earlier been awarded a penalty via a VAR intervention. ‘I’m clearly dissatisfied,’ Marsch said. ‘I’ve got to figure out how to have talks with the league or referees to help understand how some decisions get made.’ Marsch was shown a yellow card at Brighton last month after slamming down the ball and sarcastically applauding referee Michael Salisbury.
