Harry ‘ignoring William after he crossed line’

- By Royal Editor

PRINCE Harry is refusing to speak to his brother William because he feels he ‘crossed a line’ and refuses to ‘take accountability’, it was claimed yesterday.

Author Omid Scobie, who has been dubbed ‘Meghan’s mouthpiece’, quoted a source as saying it was ‘laughable’ to suggest the Duke of Cambridge had ‘shunned’ his brother. The insider insisted the truth was that ‘they [Harry and Meghan] never reached out to the Cambridges’.

Mr Scobie made the claims in an online blog in response to articles highlighting the fact that, while Harry and Meghan are currently staying at Frogmore Cottage at Windsor, they are just minutes from the Cambridges at Adelaide Cottage.

Sources have told the Daily Mail that William has ‘no plans’ to speak to his estranged brother and feels betrayed by him after his repeated attacks on the Royal Family.

Scobie, who co-authored the flattering Finding Freedom book about Harry and Meghan, wrote on Yahoo! News that the brothers have stuck to ‘polite hellos’ and ‘little else’ for the past year and the silence is as much down to Harry and it is to William. He quoted a source as saying: ‘There’s a laughable effort to suggest the [Sussexes] have been shunned. The true story is they never reached out to the Cambridges.

‘What [Harry] is waiting for is accountability... Many lines were crossed by William. He was at the centre of a number of painful moments – be it the actions of his own staff or turning his back when support was needed. It was a dark time and one that, so far, William has been unprepared to unpack.’

Kensington Palace has refused to comment on the rift, but friends of William told the Mail earlier this year that the prince alternates between grief for the brother he has lost and anger at the way Harry acrimoniously quit as a royal.

He has no desire to speak to this brother while there is the further threat of his memoir and a Netflix documentary coming out.

The Mail understands that William and many others in the Royal Household feel that the book and the programme will be ‘make or break’ in terms of Harry’s relationship with his family. If there are further ‘hurtful’ claims or revelations, it is unlikely the rift will ever be fully repaired.
