LIVING in Sweden, my surname has often been a good conversation opener. Collecting a prescription, the assistant looked at me incredulously when I gave her my name. Looking meaningfully at me, she said: ‘Doesn’t that mean . . .?’ and left the sentence unfinished. ‘Yes, you’re right,’ I replied. ‘It’s a position in rugby.’
