Trump snubbed (but Sinn Fein will join events)

DONALD Trump will not get an invitation to the Queen’s state funeral.

Invitations will be issued to heads of state and their spouses – but the attendance of other leaders will be at the discretion of Buckingham Palace.

When asked if there was space for former heads of state such as Mr Trump, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said ‘space will be limited’.

Leaders who have confirmed their attendance include US President Joe Biden and the prime ministers of Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Irish premier Micheal Martin said yesterday he will attend the funeral, and Sinn Fein announced it will attend official royal events during the period of mourning, after members stayed away from Sunday’s accession proclamation ceremony in Northern Ireland.
