BBC axed Marr’s obituary voiceover ‘at last minute’
THE BBC removed Andrew Marr’s voiceover from its special obituary programme for the Queen after he left for rival broadcaster LBC.
Marr’s voice was taken off ‘at the last minute’ despite him updating the tribute over a number of years.
A Tribute To Her Majesty The Queen, which aired on BBC1 on Friday night, was broadcast after it had been re-recorded with Kirsty Young. BBC insiders insisted the corporation had only agreed to use Marr’s voiceover up until the end of last month and that there had been a need to update the programme since then.
According to reports, Marr, 63, still believed last week that it would be broadcast with his voice on it. The BBC declined to comment.
