Albon on ventilator after surgery
ALex ALBON suffered respiratory failure and was transferred to intensive care and put on a ventilator following complications from appendix surgery. London-born Albon, who races under the Thai flag, took part in Friday’s practice at Monza but was taken to a nearby hospital with appendicitis on Saturday morning, missing the Italian Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old Williams driver came off the ventilator on Sunday and is expected to be discharged

today. Williams said Albon’s ‘full focus is on recovery and preparation’ for the Singapore Grand Prix on October 2. Albon spent last year on the sidelines after he was dropped by Red Bull. But he has impressed since joining Williams, scoring his first point for the British team at the Australian Grand Prix in April, with two further top-10 finishes in Miami and Belgium.
