TODAY: DAY ONE OF QUEEN LYING IN STATE

■ 2.22pm Coffin is borne by gun carriage of the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminste­r.

■ Route takes in Queen’s Gardens, The Mall, Horse Guards Parade and Horse Guards Arch, Whitehall, Parliament Street, Parliament Square and New Palace Yard.

■ The King and senior royals follow the gun carriage on foot. They are followed by senior staff of both the Queen’s and the King’s Households, and then close personal staff.

■ Procession walks in silence without music.

■ Guards of honour from all three services are positioned along the route. The King’s Life Guard give a royal salute as coffin passes through Horse Guards Arch. Outside Buckingham Palace, the King’s Guard welcomes the coffin.

■ Throughout the procession, minute guns will be Hyde Park by the King’s Troop Royal orse A Artillery, and Big Ben will toll.

■ 3pm Coffin arrives at North Door of Westminste­r Hall, and is carried the catafalque in Westminste­r Hall by a bearer party from the Queen's Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.

■ Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby conducts a short service.

■ 5 pm Westminste­r Hall opens for public to file past coffin at start of four-and a-half days of Queen lying in state. Round-the-clock vigil is mounted round the catafalque by officers of the Household Division, the King's Body guards of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, the King’s Body guard for Scotland, the Royal Company Archers and the King’s Body Guard he Yeomen of the Guard.

It willl be open 24 hours a day until closes at 6.30am on Monday September 19.
