Heartbreak High, Netflix
A HIT Australian show of the 1990s, the original Heartbreak High (also available on Netflix) was a vibrant Down-Under cross between Grange Hill and Beverly Hills 90210, filled with hot-topic issues, teen angst and edgy romance. This sharp new reboot is set in the same school, Hartley High in the Sydney suburbs, but with a fresh raft of 21st-century characters, facing very modern dilemmas. The students range from the typical jock (basketball star Malakai) and class clown Spider to lesbian Chinese-Australian Sasha
and autistic Quinni. As the eightpart series begin, there’s trouble for Amerie (Ayesha Madon, pictured), when her secret chart of all her classmates’ sexual liaisons is found.
