Wrong-footed by shoe thief Mr Fox

-

ON The first morning on holiday in Broadstairs, Kent, I opened the patio doors in my bedroom, put my tablet on charge and went to make breakfast.

When I returned later, the first thing I noticed was that the tablet was missing, but the charger was still in the socket. Thinking someone had broken in and stolen it, I went to the patio doors — only to find a fox staring back at me with my tablet at his feet!

I shooed him off, retrieved the tablet, closed the doors and went to put my sandals on — only to find one shoe, one sandal and one flip-flop missing. My friend had a right chuckle as she had visions of me walking around in my slippers all week.

I did a scout around the garden and managed to find all three. What a relief — holiday saved! It was only later that I discovered Mr Fox had chewed the strap on one of my expensive new shoes, leaving it hanging by a couple of threads.

Watch out for a kleptomaniac fox with a taste for leather!
